What Waveland does to a window
Waveland is a long, low town laid out between Highway 90 and the beach, and the salt comes straight in off the Mississippi Sound. The houses along Beach Boulevard and the first few blocks up Coleman Avenue and Nicholson Avenue get a salt film within a couple of weeks of a clean, and the south wind that blows most of the summer keeps it coming. Down at the west end, around Buccaneer State Park and the marsh toward Bayou Caddy, the air is damp enough that the glass rarely dries all the way, and salt that never dries off builds into spots instead of a haze.
North of Highway 90 the trouble shifts from salt to trees and water. Garden Isles and the subdivisions off Nicholson Avenue are shaded by live oaks and pines that drop pollen every spring, and under that shade the north-facing glass and porch screens grow mildew through the warm months. Can you remove well water spots from the windows?
